Supplying power over Ethernet cable is a great way to simplify a networking environment and reduce the cost of infrastructure. Followed by the growing demand for PoE applications, 802.3bt PoE had been defined by IEEE in September 2018, which provides up to 90W output and expands the use of possible applications for devices with higher power demand, such as PTZ camera, femtocell, VoIP phone, lighting, or even PoS system. 

Nevertheless, higher power accompanies the risk of electric sparks, which can be detrimental in various industrial fields. Leonton has invented the solution to this problem and has been formally granted a patent for the safety technologies by the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Economy Affairs of Taiwan. The patent (TW Pat: I707559) has been granted for technologies allowing users to safely plug or unplug the copper cable without the risk of electric sparks. This simply ensures the safety of PoE applications with higher power standards.

Leonton Technologies introduces this patented solution to prevent electric spark risk, by letting users cut each specific port’s power off by dip switches on the front panel before plugging or unplugging. Therefore it can be executed without the risk of spark and users do not have to turn off the entire Ethernet switch, causing an unnecessary downtime of data transmission.
